LAS VEGAS, NV The Bahamas Relief Foundation (BRF) raised over $63,000 during the ‘Champions for Charity’ Livestream which also created awareness for Bahamians affected by Hurricane Dorian.
BRF President, Rick Fox hosted the livestream for a full 24-hours from the HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas preceding the League of Legends (LoL) All-Star Event. The stream featured special guests and a star-studded lineup of world-best LoL talent including: Faker, Tyler 1, Goldenglue, Yassuo, Captain Flowers, Azael, and Travis Gafford.
A total of 1.2M viewers tuned-in to Rick’s stream, which was #1 on the ‘League of Legends’ Twitch page for the day, and had an average of 10,000 concurrent views. The top donation of $10,000 was made by the ‘Riot Social Impact Fund’.
Streamers were entertained throughout the campaign with LoL shout-casting, cosplay, flex-offs, hair-dying, karaoke, and more.
“It was truly special to connect my passion for LoL and the Esports community with a greater cause that is so near and dear to my heart, which is my home country of the Bahamas and the Bahamian people. This stream was fun, emotional, and so powerful seeing the support from all of the generous people around the world.” said Rick Fox.
The fundraising target for the campaign will contribute to BRF’s immediate focus to repair damaged homes and long-term goals of rebuilding homes, businesses, and schools in the Bahamas.
